1. Write about how one of the elements of this semester’s course - a reading, practice, discussion, or homework assignment - impacted or shaped your thinking regarding your dissertation topic, if at all. Just one small example is fine.

  2. Write an encouraging word to each other as we near the end of the semester!

In Week 2 we wrote about desire in reference to Martin’s book “The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything” and it has helped me overcome some imposter syndrome, but more importantly it helps give me some purpose in helping those who are neurodivergent (particularly ADHD) to pursue their calling in ministry. I always felt like desire had to be more holy than practical, but through the practices of the daily prayer and learning about the spirituality and practicality of St. Ignatius, practical can be holy. I hope that through my research and writing, I’m able to help blend the line between what is difficult and what is possible for those diagnosed with ADHD. Naming that desire gives clarity, even in this moment of writing.

To my colleagues and friends, this has been a great semester! I feel like our conversations and our trust has been at a whole other level, and I am so thankful for that. This class has kept me anchored and grounded, even when my customized course proved to be very challenging. If you haven’t hit a really rough patch yet, may you not experience it, but if you do, I know first hand we can rely on each other to spur us onto bigger and better things.

One of my favorite things has been seeing the connections between you’re research topic with the material we’re studying. It creates amazing conversation and I always pleasantly awed that I get to be on this journey with you. I pray for you regularly and I so look forward to continue reading and interacting with you and your work, sometimes with a theological dictionary by my side 😆.
