The Research Problem Revised

Clergy members are largely unaware of what ADHD is, let alone how to gracefully and compassionately minister to someone who suffers from the disorder. The sad part is that Clergy members can be at the forefront of helping those with ADHD lead healthy and vibrant spiritual lives, and that in turn will lead to more compassion and understanding for other disorders such as the closely related autism. Helping clergy members to develop more compassion and grace through education of one disorder, will only serve to have more compassion and grace for all people.

In learning about the complexity of ADHD and the areas of life that it influences, current and future clergy members be able to better care for the people they have been called to care for. Alex Hey sums it up when he writes “The Good Shepherd knows His sheep intimately. How can priests represent Christ if they do not possess an adequate understanding of a good number of His flock.” (Hey 2019)
