Thoughts and Notes
New France and East Asia
- What is multiculturalism?
- The struggles early missionaries faced of going to different cultures, are some of the same struggles we face today, learning new languages, practices, foods, etc.
- When you love God, you want everyone everyone else to love God too, that’s how Christianity is spread.
- Jesuit’s spread throughout the world unlinke monasteries
- The world is our home, and if you left your “home” is a leaving to a new place forever.
- Focus on what they did and who they are as opposed to what they accomplished.
- Huron language was documented by Jesuit missionaries and was able to be resurrected today
- Observe, appreciate, and listen to the culture is so much more effective than hamfisting God onto people.
- Going to advanced cultures is even more tricky, but possible. Cultivate relationships.
- Martyrdom is to witness, not necessarily to die. If you die, then you die in witness, not simply to die..
